½ Handicap Shield 2020 Winner: Brain Coles 21-19 - Runner up: Alaric Evans
Barnes Bowling Club is one of the oldest bowling clubs in the world. Established in 1725, our game is a variation of the game that dates back to Elizabethan times in England. Our green is situated behind the Sun Inn, Barnes, London SW13. New members are always welcome and our season runs from late April to early October. We look forward to the 2021 season and our best wishes go out to all members until we meet again. 2020 has been a different season, but the Club managed to hold two socially-distanced competitions, The Half-Handicap Shield and the 2020 Challenge League. We look forward to our 2021 season starting late April and meantime offer our best wishes to all members for the coming months.
The 2020 Challenge League was won by Judith Heaton, with Alaric Evans (second) and Brian Coles (third). Next year we look forward to returning to our normal schedule of events and competitions: Ladies Day, Pairs Cup, Challenge Plus Cup, Silver Fox Trophy, our famous International Day, the Cup and Shield.
Our 2020 season closed in October. Congratulations to Stephanie Bell who won Rookie-of-the Year 2020. As is precedent, the Club closes with the lowering of the club flag by this year’s President, Annie Watts, assisted by the 2019 Rookie-of-the-Year Jules Robinson.
